I love words. I love reading them, and I really love writing them.
I even love breaking sentences and words apart to see what makes them tick. When I took my first linguistics class in college — The Structure of the English Language — I had so much fun doing the assignments that I finished all of my homework for the entire term in the first week. I just couldn’t stop learning about the pieces of words that come together to make meaning.
Since then, I’ve put that passion to work for a variety of publications, businesses, and nonprofits. I’ve created an implemented PR and marketing plans. I’ve written articles for publication, press releases, blogs on a variety of topics, and a variety of marketing collateral — brochures, web copy, newsletters, and more.
My favorite part? Putting myself into your audience’s shoes, figuring out where their pain is and how you can help solve it. In that sense, writing is a little bit like acting. I get to pretend to be someone else for a little while every day.
